I woke up around 4:00 a.m. last Thursday and didn't have a nite light on heading me to the bathroom! I found out the power had gone out around 3:30 so I went back to bed and blanketed up. There was some lightning going on at that time too. When I got up around 5:30 there was still no power, so I got up and found a flashlight. I had candles the last time we were without power, but couldn't put my hands on them. I took the flashlight into the bathroom and began to get myself ready for work the best I could. It was a little bit of a challenge taking a shower without much light. I decided to not try and shave - smart! I was also hoping I had enough hot water to last during my shower and I did! I think it was around 6:30 when the power came back on. The good thing about that timing was I didn't have to manually put my garage door up when I headed to the office. I only had to set one clock at the office when I got there. My computer was working fine, but the server wasn't so it was tough to get thigs done until that was taken care of. It was a little later on, so all is pretty good now.

One of the toughest businesses to get going in the morning following the power outage was our "No So" Quality Bakery. Luckily they had a lot of the morning baked goods already done when the power stopped. Courtney told me they had to go back to the 1930s and use the crank on the oven to keep things rotating and cooking. She said she got a workout and there were just a couple of items that they lost

Bob, Terry and I headed to Front Porch in Highland for breakfast Saturday morning where we met Dewey who came from Spring Green. We had the premier parking spot as we were the first ones there! We had two Jennas for our waitstaff - Jenna Shemak and Jenna James - so all we had to do was yell Jenna when we needed more coffee! Courtney Riley, a transplant from Missouri, is the owner. She isn't related to me even though I tell her mother-in-law (Lisa) we are related! Bob had the "Porch Special" and it looked very good with eggs, hash browns and more. Terry and I stuck to omelettes while Dewey had a breakfast sandwich. They have homemade jelly that is very good too!

Just so you know we weren't the only ones there. They even had a few carryouts during our time there besides others coming in.

We've had to 5+ inches of snowfalls. That's a little much for me to shovel. I was happy there was no school both times as I had help doing that job. The little ones I can handle, but I haven't removed snow from my driveway since after it was after the last big one. My count has 17 for the predicted 35 snowfalls already happening!

The cold has sure set in just before Christmas. Temperatures are in the single digits with below zero a couple of times. The good news is that it is supposed to be in the 30s again toward the end of next week!

I want to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and am looking forward to the new year!
