#47! That's how many different places/owners we have been to since our Saturday morning breakfasts began at least 8 years ago. All are within 45 minutes (mostly half hour) of Dodgeville. The we I'm talking about are Bob Kratochwill (old guy), Terry Carroll and Dewey Christoph (both older than me). We are joined a good share of the time by Dave Stone (Riley area). Also, the love Doc Jenkins, former chamber of commerce directors Lynn Price and Beth Mikrut-Gilles have joined us on occasion. This week, our new stop (#47) was in Boscobel at "Old 61 Diner." Dewey arrived first, coming on his own from Spring Green and was the only one seated at any of the tables there. There were a couple fellows at the counter area. The three of us walked in and I said that we thought Dewey looked lonely so we came to join him. The waitress said he was waiting for some friends and we all replied maybe we should sit at another table then! Our waitress was Cora Fritz. In interrogating her (like we usually do our servers at new places) we found out that she is a year out of high school, living just outside of Richland Center. She lives not too far from brother Pat's and my cousin's winery (Wild Hills Winery) and that she has taken some college courses. She worked at Lactalis Dairy in Belmont, but found out that lab work wasn't what she wanted. She did say she loved talking to people and loved being a waitress. She might like to own this cafe sometime down the road! Cora Fritz was very talkative and a very good waitress! As we were leaving we did meet the owner, Lacie Rutherford, who had been there for 19 years and bought it not too long ago! She certainly didn't look to be as old as she turned out to be!

Oh, and we all ordered something different so we could check out the different items on the menu. We were all very satisfied with the product, price and service. Terry and I even brought back cinnamon rolls that looked very yummy and were huge! And the place was pretty full by the time we left so the staff was busy.

In typical Bob fashion, even though Terry drove, we took some back roads into Dodgeville to look at new things going up in the area!

The Highland football team's season came to an end in a tough 38-35 loss to Potosi/Cassville Friday night. They were the last of our coverage area team's to be eliminated. They had a great run! Area teams Darlington and Cuba City along with SWC  league champion Brodhead-Juda are all still in the running however.

Saturday afternoon I saw an overtime football game in Waunakee won by the host team that features one of my great-nephews (Pat's grandson) Quentin Keene at quarterback. They won 27-24 in overtime when he threw a pass to set up the final touchdown run when they were trailing. It was a great football game. They now are two games away from state!
*****
Also, Highland's volleyball season was stopped by a very good Wonewoc Center team one game away from a state tournament trip. They too had a very magical season!

The dream did come through, however, for the Dodgeville-Mineral Point Girls Cross Country Team as they edged Shorewood for the Division 2 State championship by one point! They had a great year and only lost one runner off of the varsity team. The boys finished a respectable 5th in D2 also!

Don't forget to set your clocks back Saturday night - FALL BACK!
