The annual Dodgeville Area Scholarship Fund (DASFI) golf outing is this Sunday at Dodge Point Country Club. It's a fun day when you can see a lot of people you went to school with or you may've heard of when you were in school. People will range from still in high school to 80+! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend as I have the concession stand at the High School Baseball Field at the middle school to run for Fall Baseball. I will miss seeing all the friends I have made over the years at the event - many I have known really well for years. I will also miss (the late) Kathryn McGraw's pies that will be auctioned away. Her granddaughter Lori McKinley was given the recipe by Kathryn to make for the DASFI event every year!

People have been running from all the bees that have been around during the warm weather. Funny thing though, they don't seem to bother me. Does that mean there's no real sweetness to me? You be the judge!

Last Saturday was the 20th Anniversary of one of the most tragic events that has happened in the United States during my lifetime - 911. I traveled around to several communities and fire departments to take photos of their commemoration of that event. I was sad to see that several didn't really commemorate it and some didn't even have flags flown at half mast. Maybe with it happening on a weekend people at the community buildings didn't remember to do anything before they left work on Friday or designate someone to take care of it on Saturday..

Fall baseball continues two more weeks and maybe three here in Dodgeville on Sundays.

Saturday I noticed some action on the soon to be new location of 608 Custom Screen Print in Dodgeville - the building just north of the old Corner Drug Store. So I stopped and looked around inside. Phil and Kathryn Heimerl were working away with some others helping to get things ready for a (hopefully) end of September opening.

Speaking of the old Corner Drug Store building, the good news is Cliff has found someone to fix the Old Fashioned Soda Fountain so it can be operable when they open. It's making its way to McFarland where a retired refrigeration guy said he can work on it and get it running!

This year's DodgeFest was a pretty good success. Even though food vendors were down some, enough money was made to pay all the bills for the talent and other expenses. Thank goodness there were more tents provided with the heat and sunshine that barrelled down on people.
