What ever happened to the just plain "You're Welcome" that was once spoken after you said "Thank You"? I often say "Thank You" after someone (say) pours me a cup of coffee at a restaurant. The reply more times as not is "No Problem"! What does that really mean - no problem with me doing what I'm supposed to as your wait staff?!

Bob, Terry and I made the trip to Mount Horeb Saturday for breakfast to Spring Garden where we met Dewey Christoph. We had a pretty good meal and were able to catch up with Dewey on some of the happenings in his life.

While at Spring Garden we usually get to see Chuck Misky along with Doug and Janet Nesheim, all who are Mount Horeb residents. Chuck's grandson, Jack Misky from Cuba City, is a senior and a highly recruited athlete in both basketball and track & field. Doug Nesheim played basketball against my brother Pat and the 1963 state basketball runner-up team. His wife said the last time I talked about them in my column a copy of the Dodgeville Chronicle was left in their mailbox. They still don't know who left it! They just know it wasn't Chuck.

Friday (March 19) is the day of for the Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce raffle ticket drawing. They sold 225 with a Grand Prize of $10,000 - and other prizes too, including more cash. The drawing is at 6:00 p.m. at the Dodger Bowl. This was in lieu of not being able to hold fundraising events in 2020. It was called "Raffle for a Cause" - investing in 2021 Chamber Events!

By the way, the front door of the Chronicle has been open since early December. I've had several people ask! We do require facial coverings to enter however, but we are happy to see old and new friends even if we can't always tell who you are!

Speaking of the Chamber of Commerce, plans have begun for DodgeFest, scheduled for August 28, and the "Pop Up" Town Square in July plus the Slowpitch Softball Tournament for early August. We are all hoping all of the summer events can be held this year - 2021 has to be better!

Iowa County Farmers Appreciation Day is set for Sunday, July 11. There will be more on that in the near future!

This weekend marks the "official" start of spring even though some of the recent days have really felt like it already. Most of the snow has melted with just some of the huge piles still in tact, but a lot smaller. We had another hint of that white stuff Sunday night into Monday. The good thing is we know it won't last long now - hopefully!

While I've been on National Holidays or celebrated days, Saturday (March 20) is an interesting one. It's "Proposal Day". That's a day I may lay low because I'm sure there are a lot of women out there who will be looking for me! Actually, with all the suggestions about romance on Proposal Day, one must recognize that this day can be about ANY type of proposal. For example, legislators may propose a new law, you might attend a meeting about a new business proposal, or a friend may simply propose that you go to a movie or a ball game. So maybe I'm safe!
