Bob, Terry and I made the short trip to Cafe by Country Kitchen in Dodgeville for Saturday morning breakfast again. I had my first COVID vaccine scheduled for 8:35 a.m. and Terry and his wife had their set for 8:50, so we met a half hour earlier - 7:00. Terry was there before they were to open (7:00), but they let him in anyway to be out of the elements. Bob, as usual, was a few minutes late, but we expect that! Owner Craig joined us for a few minutes, but not enough to get any of the world problems solved like we usually do!

I talked Bob into going with me to Upland Hills Health while I was to get my shot so that he could take a photo of the happening (see above photo). They wouldn't let him go with me, but the staff member who took me to the spot of the shot was kind enough to take it!

The "shooting" was done by Melissa Mulder, who I know pretty well. It went really well - she didn't hurt me (much)!

We all had a 15 minute wait following the shot to see if there was any reaction so I got to see and talk with several people I hadn't seen in quite some time - due to COVID. Several were traditional Wednesday stoppers at the Chronicle to get their newspaper early!

After I figured that I was totally recovered from my "shooting" Saturday, I went to the Highland Lions Club Fisheree at Blackhawk Lake between Highland and Cobb. The weather was pretty darn good for the event. There was a good crowd out on the ice. Things should've been wound down by the time the snow came in the late afternoon. This was one of the first events around here that had taken place this year!

The Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of selling raffle tickets (300 total) for a Grand Prize of $10,000, with other prizes too. This is in lieu of not being able to hold fundraising events in 2020. It's called "Raffle for a Cause - investing in 2021 Chamber Events!

By the way, the front door of the Chronicle has been open since early December. I've had several people ask! We do require facial coverings to enter however, but we are happy to see old and new friends even if we can't always tell who you are!

Sunday morning at about 7:00 I went to the Chronicle office to shovel the snow that had accumulated over night. I never know if people use the sidewalks much following snow, but I like to have it clear for anyone who does! In some areas there was probably seven inches, in other areas there was three or four. While I was working on the front sidewalk (taking my time and resting after five or six shovelfuls) and was about halfway finished, I had a surprise helper stop his truck and lend a hand. It was David Olson, who was on his way to get rid of some snow at his wife's (Terry) business - Time And Again Vintage - that is on the main street. Now Terry is a "Crubaugh" and you all know my struggles with that family! He assured me he wasn't a Crubaugh, just married to one, so he was more than glad to lend a hand! Now if it would've been Mike, he would've stopped too, but he would've stood there talking and laughing to keep me company while I was shoveling! He also may've leaned on a shovel while doing so!
