Our Saturday morning breakfast took Bob, Terry and I to 400 Springs just outside of Spring Green, one of our favorite places! They are going to be serving the next two weekends, then are going to close until March. Because of that, we will definitely go there one more time (if not two) yet this year (or January 2 - their last day). We arrived at about 8:00 a.m. and were the only ones in the place except for Rita (waitress) and Drew (owner/chef) and some cleaning staff. We learned a lot about Drew's experiences and places he worked before ending up in Spring Green - Madison (Edgewater), Mount Horeb, Mazomanie (Old Feed Mill), House on the Rock Resort (where he is now), Break of Dawn (breakfast place at the former Round Barn) and now 400 Springs. Oh, and another table of people came in about the time we left.

Terry told us about a "driving experience" that wasn't his, but something he observed while looking out the window at Ederer's, where he works part-time. A semi, pulling a trailer, was going around the roundabout on 18/151 and the driver header north on Bennett Road. He realized he was going the wrong direction so he pulled into Curtis Road, just below Ederer's at Dodgeville Auto. With the trailer behind, it was a challenge to turn around. He went back into the roundabout, but was in the wrong lane and went the wrong way around. When he noticed he was going the wrong way, he had to back up again to get situated. By then he had two semis stopped that were coming one direction and three cars stopped from another direction watching what was happening. The cars backed up to head another way to get to their destination. They must've been locals. Finally, the driver went back up Bennett Road and started all over again. A customer that was in Ederer's watching with Terry said, "They must be from Illinois!" I'll bet you thought I was going to say IOWA!

Oh, and finally the truck driver got it all figured out and went on is way in the right direction!

The Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball Team and football team both had good days Saturday with wins. So did the Green Bay Packers, even though they made it tougher than it was! You could watch UW and Green Bay sports at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. that day. I guess it was a good Wisconsin "sports day"!

We already will have a "White Christmas" since it won't get warm enough to melt all the snow we've had, but we are supposed to get some wintery mix a couple times this week with the last on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is supposed to be one of the coldest of the year so far.

My favorite Christmas Carol is "Oh Holy Night" with "Silent Night" running a close second. From the all-time pop charts I have always had a soft spot for Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas." For some reason it makes me think of my first true love when I was in college at UW-Platteville. For a novelty song I really like "I Yust Go Nuts At Christmas" by Yogi Yorgenson, a fictional Swede singer (Swedes can't' pronounce a J). That one came out in 1949, when I was 3 years old! There are so many Christmas Carols and Christmas Songs that I like though!

I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and hope that families will be able to celebrate together more next year!
