I'm sure you have all heard the expression "Once in a Blue Moon" right? Well, the Blue Moon happened on last Saturday (Halloween). It isn't a rarity, but for it to happen on Halloween - it hadn't since 1944 and that's before I was born, so that's a while ago! See the above photo - sorry it's not in color!

Bob, Terry and I made the trip Saturday morning to 400 Springs at the House on the Rock Golf Course by Spring Green. With the COVID spikes we are very comfortable going there. Terry had buttermilk pancakes and ham while I had buckwheat pancakes (very filling) and ham. Bob went with the Farmer's Breakfast and took an order of hashbrowns home for his wife Mary. We did a little sight seeing after leaving 400 Springs. We checked out several properties in and around Dodgeville.

One of our stops was at the Diamond Oaks Sudivision on the east side of Dodgeville. We had a nice talk with "Mayor" Jimmy Johnson! We proclaimed him such!

A huge congratulations to Iowa-Grant senior Nick Connolly as he finished 3rd individually in Division 3 at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships. Division 3 was held in West Salem and run in three different heats. Nick has been to state all four years and this is the first time he has medaled!
*****
Another individual runner at the state cross country championships was Dodge-Point junior Will Aurit. He ran in the second of three heats at Arrowhead High School in Division 1. Dodge-Point normally runs in Division 2. Will finished 55th in the overall race. He had a great season!

Mineral Point's volleyball team bowed out of state competition Thursday night in a tough loss to Cochrane-Fountain City in Sectional play. Also the Dodge-Point United Soccer Team suffered the same fate Saturday in a loss to Sauk Prairie. Both teams had fine seasons. The loss by Dodge-Point United was their first of the season!

Construction projects are nearing completion or at least being roofed for winter work in Dodgeville on such things as the new Iowa County Sheriff's Department (Law Enforcement Center), the Dodgeville School District Auditorium and Gymnasium and West Spring Street. There are several housing projects being worked on too. It's all good!

Holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas will happen this year even with the pandemic. We just aren't sure what the format will be for these annual "family"gatherings!

The Dodgeville Lions Club is winding down its Birthday/Anniversary Calendar Sale. Since the pandemic forced cancellation of three major fundraisers for the group - Fun Night and two Antique/Flea Markets - this may be the club's only fundraiser for the year. The Lions Club gives a lot of money to local and area needs, including the Food Pantry, Food Locker and Feeding Friends. They have built a lot of shelters at parks and provided funds for dugouts at ball fields, plus they give out several scholarships to graduating seniors. They also help Boy Scouts with Eagle Projects and donate much more to other needs. If you haven't been contacted by a Dodgeville Lion to buy a calendar, please do so. There is information on their website.
