Addressed to Pat and me, we received a note from former Dodgeville resident and good friend Larry Keith in his Chronicle subscription renewal. "We left Dodgeville 46 years ago. We still enjoy your paper. It keeps us up to date with friends and activities we like to return for. Thanks. I am winding down in my activities. I have Parkinsons, but still enjoy all I can do. Best Regards - Larry Keith."

It's always nice to hear from people who have moved away. We're glad to see them when they come back for whatever reason!

The latest of the events cancelled around the area due to the COVID-19 Pandemic include the Dodgeville Kiwanis Chicken Barbecue, the DodgeFest that was to be held in the courthouse parking lot in Dodgeville August 16 and the Annual Cobb Corn Roast. I'm sure there are more too!

Check out our Dodgeville Babe Ruth teams' schedules along with the Knights Home Talent schedule in this week's paper and on the Chronicle FACEBOOK page. The home games are held at Centennial Park with a concession stand in operation. It handles only packaged items for sale.

Son Michael turned 40 (hard to believe) on Monday, June 22. He made his way here from Muscatine, Iowa on Wednesday for his birthday with us having lunch at Bob's BBQ. He posted that he was here and at Bob's on his FACEBOOK page and one of his friends responded that he stops there a lot and didn't know it had opened back up! Michael's wife (Jolisa) was to come too, but she had a long night in her police job due to having to fill out a lot of reports and didn't get home until 4:00 a.m. and was too beat to make the drive. Michael and I had a nice talk and stayed at Bob's for about two hours. It was great to catch up!

It was beautiful weekend and both home talent games were cancelled so I had Saturday to do some work at the Chronicle office and Sunday to do what I pleased. I went to the abbreviated Livingston Festival in the morning (after attending church services). They had a tractor parade and wagon ride throughout the village with about 40 entries. Then they did a drive through chicken BBQ where they sold 700 halves of chicken in advance. I came back smelling a little like smoke after being around the workers doing the chicken.

After being at Livingston I headed to the Ridgeway Farmers Market. They had over 20 vendors there with a lot of different items, including an ice cream truck plus they had live music. There were vendors from Iowa, Boscobel, Belleville, Gratiot, Darlington and of course some locals too. I had a chance to talk to several people and also to get a chance to hear Kurt Kieffer (a local) play guitar and sing (see above photo). He and his band "Untamed" was a Spotlight story about a year or so ago in the Chronicle.
