I got a chance to run into Larry Crowley (building owner) Sunday at the former Corner Drug Store building in downtown Dodgeville. I also took a look inside seeing the "Old Fashioned Soda Fountain" that is intact and wants to be used by the new owners. The owners are still shooting for a closing by the end of the year. It is to be a mercantile store, which could be a catch all for a lot of things!

The Millennium Laundry opened last Saturday at the corners of Spring, Main and Bequette Streets (the 5 corners). That's really a godsend for Dodgeville as people have been having to go a distance to get their laundry done. They plan a Grand Opening in January!

I made it to the "Little Givers Magic Shop" Saturday to watch the youngsters being helped by Santa's Elves to do their Christmas shopping for under $10. The basement at the Red Room is a great place for the shopping to be done by the kids while the grownups can be upstairs at the Vendor's Show. Oh, and Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand to greet the youngsters too!

When this paper comes out it will be less than a week before Christmas. We put two papers out almost at the same time. This week's paper is dated December 19 and the deadline for the following one (Christmas issue) is the next day, Friday, December 20.

I understand the lower level of Mitchell's Hardware in Mineral Point will soon be filled by the business just to the east of it moving in. The top part of that building is a "help" workshop run by Mark Mitchell. Now, the middle part just needs a tenant!

It's great to have the Dodgeville to Mineral Point exit open. We sure can notice the amount of traffic coming through from the south again! It opened officially at 2:04 p.m. last Friday.

It really sounds like quite the project at the North Kwik Trip down the road. With all the land they bought towards the south the expansion and new building will be something else!
*****
There's also some action at the former Dodgeville Truck Stop area. It's too soon to tell if anything is set in stone though!

I had a chance to take in part of the Mineral Point Madrigal Friday night. They had a good crowd and it is very well done!

I'm a member of the Dodgeville Lions Club and Monday we received word that Lions Clubs around the world screened more than 1,000,000 (one million) people for type 2 diabetes this past year! The Dodgevile Lions Club held a FREE screening for type 2 diabetes in 2019 at their Community FREE Breakfast that is held in February and will be held again in February 2020.
