Don't ignore this election

Dear Editor,
It's so easy to ignore Spring Primary Elections, such as the Wisconsin Supreme Court contest coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
But voters will ignore this election at their peril.
Few people want to see a redo of the 2022 Presidential election where a troubling minority of officials attempted to overturn the election results - leaving the majority of voters in the cold. It happened right here in Wisconsin. Our Supreme Court was on the knife edge in deciding the outcome.
That's why it's truly alarming to realize that two of the candidates running in this year's Wisconsin Supreme Court primary are election deniers. They claim Donald Trump should be sitting in the White House right now.
The strongest candidate to get things back on track is Judge Janet Protasiewicz, who has been endorsed by 118 Wisconsin judges, more than all the other candidates combined. She is also the most experienced candidate, having been a Circuit Court Judge for the last decade, following 26 years as an assistant district attorney
Judge Protasiewicz is deeply concerned about being sure everyone's vote is protected. As a long-time prosecutor, she also understands the experiences of both law enforcement personnel and victims of crime, two qualities that will serve her well on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
SW Wisconsin voters will have a chance to meet and talk with Judge Protasiewicz on Friday, January 27. She'll be in Mineral Point from noon to 1 p.m. at the Nash Building Ballroom (corner of Fountain and Vine). From 10 to 11 a.m. she'll be at the Barneveld Public Library; from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Spring Green Community Center and from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Base Camp Restaurant in Mazomanie.
