February Madness

Basketball fanatics are quite familiar with the term "March Madness," which refers to the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament with more than 60 teams competing in a win-or-go-home playoff.
But before that, Wisconsin high school girls basketball teams are kicking off the WIAA playoffs this week, as hundreds of seniors will play their final game of their career.
Memories will be made, good or bad, and regrets will be felt.
Only around two percent, or less, male and female high school athletes will go on to play for a Division 1 team.
Careers will end sooner than expected, and many will wish they could live in those postseason moments forever.
The 2021-22 high school basketball season was one to remember for our area.
The Mineral Point girls completed an undefeated, 24-0, 14-0 regular season and claimed their fourth consecutive SWAL championship with the number one ranking in Division 4 and number one playoff seed.
Senior Mallory Lindsey surpassed 1,000 career points and is a sharpshooter from behind the three-point line, as she's third in the state, making 44%.
The Pointers will host the winner of Darlington/Melrose-Mindoro in a Regional Semifinal Friday, Feb. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
The Highland girls basketball team claimed a share of the Six Rivers - West title with an overall record of 21-3 and 9-1 conference record.
Senior Katelyn Esser also achieved 1,000 career points.
The Cardinals received the number two seed and hosted North Crawford Tuesday.
