2/8/2019 1:37:00 PM Dodgeville council approves slight water bill increase
Residents of the City of Dodgeville may notice a slight increase in their water bills after March 16. The Dodgeville city council has completed a simplified rate case (SRC) with the Public Service Commission which allows them to increase the water portion of the bill 3%. The rate will take effect March 16. The increase will only affect the water portion of the bill and the additional revenue is traditionally used for maintaining the water lines. The council unanimously approved the increase. Mayor Todd Novak who is also the assembly representative from this area was not able to attend the meeting because of a legislative session. Council president Dan Meuer conducted the meeting in his absence. The council took action on an application for a taxicab operators license from Rose Erickson. They approved the request which will allow Erickson to drive the taxi provided by Iowa County through Social Services and ADRC. The council unanimously approved a request from the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce for plate umpire funding and field maintenance work from the city for their annual softball tournament this summer. Mound City Bank will provide capital checking account transfer services after council action Tuesday. Marine Credit Union previously provided the service but the business has changed hands often and check writing has become difficult as it must be done manually. Also Mound City has some of the CDs for the city and there will be no check fees. Johnson and Block submitted an engagement letter to provide audit services for the city through 2020 which the council approved. In other business the council: -was informed that spring primary in person voting is now underway. -learned the auditors visited the city office yesterday. -was informed the ordinance committee must schedule a meeting to handle the proposed vaping ordinance and that the DTV committee should also meet soon. Administration/Personnel will meet February 13 at 5 p.m. -was informed the next council meeting will be Wednesday, February 20 because of the February 19 primary election.
