construction on schedule
"We did very well," were Barneveld Schools District Administrator Brett Stousland's initial comments when reporting to the school board about their DPI (Department of Administration) report card.
He spoke about the school's high grades at the Wednesday, November 15 regular meeting. (see related Report Card story elsewhere in this paper).
Stousland pointed out that they were one of three schools in their CESA District to make at least a 10 point jump from last year.
In the last seven years their report card has nearly jumped 15 points in overall scores from the elementary school and high school.
He pointed out that they are still running behind some in math.
"We need to catch up," he said. "Closing the gap is our goal."
Principal Erin Eslinger reported about the College and Career Readiness Outreach program saying it really helps with scholarship applications.
She also talked about the Veterans Day program that was held Monday saying, "It amazes me as to how it was put together. It is nice to have the high school and elementary school kids all together."
Stousland gave a construction update saying, "There have been obstacles, but we're still on schedule. We hope to get the roof on before the holiday break."
He reported on the Tactical Planning/Strategic Visioning part of the meeting. He said, "We look at the goals of all the kids, but are concentrating on the Special Education students and their goals."
Stousland also said the Policy Commmittee will meet in December. "We need to have a homework policy. We don't really have one at this time."
Stousland also reported that Tim Sullivan had resigned from his custodial position.
