Veterans Day is on Sunday November 11. The Dodgeville Chronicle is capturing our area Veterans Day observances in honor and the utmost appreciation for those who have served or are currently serving. Avoca: Avoca will have a Veteran's dinner on Sunday, November 11 for Veterans of the Avoca American Legion. There will be cocktails at noon and dinner at 1 p.m. for Legion and Auxiliary members at the Avoca Community Building. Barneveld: A Veterans Day program will be held at the Barneveld High School on Monday November 12 starting at 9:30 a.m. The community is invited to attend.
Dodgeville: Dodgeville community members are invited to a Veterans breakfast at 8 a.m. on Monday November 12 at the Dodgeville High School, with a program to follow at 9 a.m. There is also a Veterans Memorial Program that day 11 a.m. at the Iowa County Courthouse in Dodgeville. Hollandale: There will be a Veterans Breakfast for veterans and their spouses at the Hollandale Elementary School starting at 8:15 a.m. with a program to follow at 9 a.m. Highland: There will a Veterans Day program at Highland High School on Friday November 9 at 2 p.m. On Sunday November 11, a Veteran's breakfast will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Red Zone. Iowa-Grant: There will be a Veterans Day program Monday November 12 at the Iowa-Grant Elementary School at 10:30 a.m. This is a district wide program, and the Iowa-Grant community is invited to attend. Mineral Point: There will be a Veterans Day program Friday November 9 at 10 a.m. at the Mineral Point High School. Rev. Melcher will give the address at that program. There will also be a program at the Mineral Point Elementary School starting at 2 p.m. Veterans are encouraged to attend both programs and to also arrive early to have better seating. On Sunday November 11 A Veterans Day program will take place at 11 a.m. at Library Park on High Street. Following the program, Veterans may retire to the clubhouse for snacks. Harold Rihn will show a short film of the ceremony at the 100th National Convention with a descendant of Theodore Roosevelt at the ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend all events. Ridgeway: A Veterans Day program will take place on Monday November 12 starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Ridgeway Elementary School Gymnasium. Community members are invited to attend. Waldwick: Waldwick Community Church will hold a Veterans Day service on November 11th at 9:30 a.m. to honor all veterans. Special bell ringing at 10:50 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
