Arena board approves tax levy, purchase building

The tax levy of $439,244 for 2021 was set by the Arena Village Board at their November meeting. Only two members of the public attended the budget hearing to learn details of the 2022 budget. Expenses in the 2022 budget, $698,849, are $376 more than last year. The board noted village debt of $3,400,746 for the year ending December 31, 2021, with debt service budgeted at $73,874. The budget can viewed at village hall, 345 West Street, in its entirety.
An offer to purchase the building at 516 Oak Street received from Robert Bendtsen was accepted by trustees Charles Burch, Kathy Stoltz, Rachel Maxwell, Kristen Shea and village president Kate Reimann. The property was listed by Century 21 realtor Andrea Joo who had an offer to purchase in less than a week of listing it. Trustee Jim Doerflinger arrived at the meeting after the vote was taken and trustee Paul Pustina did not attend. The board agreed to have Nick Jennings conduct a survey of the property with closing date of November 19 set....
