Dodge-Point girls cross country bring back gold
By Levi Zimmerman
The division two state champion trophy belongs to the Dodgeville-Mineral Point girls cross country team once again after missing out on the state championships the last five years.
Some of the runners shared their experiences and feelings from the experience as well as the journey leading up to the triumph.
The girls team was led by the duo of twins Ellie and Annie Robinson, who are both freshmen at Mineral Point High School.
The pair have been at the front of the pack throughout the season for Dodge-Point and have run their way to top ten finishes.
Annie, who placed seventh, explained how she prepared to have a stellar fall season through rigorous training.
"I ran a lot of miles during the summer. Putting in all of those miles makes it easier to compete during the season," she stated.
In addition to the physical workouts, Annie expressed that there's also an on-going motivation within the team that helps push herself.
She said that her sister, Ellie, motivates her to reach new heights. There also may or may not be a friendly competition involved.
"It's fun to train and race with her (Ellie). It makes me and her more competitive and have more determination to do well. I'd also say that there's a little bit of a rivalry," said Annie....
