Library expands to rental unit to
With the construction of a new library currently on hold the Dodgeville City Council agreed with a proposal from. Library Director Vickie Stangel that will allow for increasing needed services.
The council agreed Tuesday at their regular meeting to rent the former Our Front Porch building from Dennis Marklein. The city and the library will split the utilities. The lease will be effective December 1.
Stangel told the council that the rental property is attractive because it is downtown (across from M&I Bank), is visible to the public, and is handicapped accessible. The building formerly housed a hardware store, sporting goods store, travel agency, gift shop and campaign headquarters in Iowa County for Kriss Marion.
Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stangel said the building will house a "cohesive collection of services and resources targeting boomers and beyond (55 and over)"
Needs, according to Stangel, include space for small group study, a zoom room for people or family unit, program space for drop in storytime, juvenile programs and teen/adult programs.
