residents receive water problems notice
The residents of Mineral Point are being warned about the condition of their drinking water and the news is not great.
The city has been notified deficiencies have been found in the drinking water which requires immediate attention.
Residents are being notified by a quarter page ad in this week's Democrat Tribune that the city did not address the deficiencies in accordance with a schedule city agreed to follow.
Because the schedule was not followed the water system is not adequately involved in a comprehensive cross connection control program. Water utilities are required to inspect for cross connections within the water system. Inspections are require in order to protect the public water supply system from cross contamination.
The city has now become involved in cross connection inspections and has been completing them as the Department of Natural Resources prescribes.
Inadequately treated or protected water may contain disease causing organisms which may cause disease. City residents do not need t use an alternative water supply at this time however anyone with a specific health concern should contact their medical provider.
