Death near Arena ruled natural causes
A death after a tubing accident on the Wisconsin River August 21 has been ruled accidental.
Lynda S. Mueller was pronounced deceased at the scene after methods to revive her failed.
At 11 a.m. August 21, the Iowa County Dispatch Center received a call of CPR in progress on a subject near the Wisconsin River between the USH 14 boat landing and Traders Campground in Arena Township.
The victim was tubing with a group down the Wisconsin River when she became tangled with a downed tree. She was able to free herself and walked to the sandbar. When she reached the sandbar she reported difficulty breathing and went limp.
Mueller was put in a prone position and CPR was started, continuing until emergency services arrived at the scene and took over.
Medflight was requested and when it arrived the medflight doctor pronounced her deceased by natural causes.
The Iowa County coroner's office was called and the Richardson-Stafford funeral home is assisting the family.
Assisting at the incident were the Iowa County Sheriff's office, Wisconsin DNR, Arena Fire and EMS, Arena police, Spring Green police, UW Medflight and the Iowa County coroner's office.
