City of Dodgeville approves putting in auto air
|With COVID-19 case numbers increasing throughout the U.S., and Iowa County, the City of Dodgeville met to discuss bringing in an air cleaning system.|
The World Health Organization and Center of Disease Control (CDC) have been coming out with statements that the virus is more airborne, or stays in the air a lot longer than what was thought before. Government agencies around the world are looking at ways to filter air, further protecting from particles that contribute to COVID-19 spread.
Dodgeville Chief of Police Dave Bauer presented council members with a proposal regarding an ionization system. The system is designed to handle up to 4,800 cubic feet per minute (or airflow).
The ionization system would cost the City of Dodgeville $26,950 and would go for the City Hall, Fire Department, Police Department, and Emergency Medical Center. Council members unanimously approved the proposal.
Dodgeville Public Library Director Vickie Stangel discussed the library's reopening plans. The public library was originally planning to slowly open up, but has halted somewhat due to Iowa County's COVID-19 increased cases. The library has been offering "Book it and Bag it" services, and computers have been used on an appointment only basis.
"Nobody is actually going into the library, per se, except for computers," Stangel said. "I don't know when we're going to do any changes."
