Staff salaries to receive bump
The Barneveld School Board took steps to improve staff salaries at their regular meeting Wednesday.
A decision was made to add $30,000 to the certified staff salary "bucket."
Superintendent Brett Stousland said the money will be used in Step 1 and Step 2 which will adjust certain salaries to be closer to fair market value. He added fair market value will be determined by a comparison of districts in CESA #2 and CESA #3 along with Peer Comparison from River Valley, Mount Horeb, Edgerton, Evansville and Wisconsin Heights school districts.
"The board chose those districts because they are larger than Barneveld and are on the outskirts of Madison," said Stousland. "Staff who are below 'fair market value' will get a bump in pay yet this year and again next year if they remain below the market value for their teaching position and their years of experience."
The board passed a resolution to pay hourly staff their normal pay until the next board meeting when they will have more information on where the issues created by the pandemic are determined.
In a matter left over from last month the board gave approval of a batting cage for $8,000.00. They were informed the softball and baseball teams will contribute from their activity accounts to be able to purchase the one drop down net they desire.
The board also expressed their appreciation to the staff after principal Erin Eslinger, discussed all of the work the staff has done to support students in preparing for learning at home.
