Dodgeville school board names Weber new district administrator
In a minute and a motion at the Dodgeville School Board meeting Monday a contract was approved for a new District Administrator.
The board, after narrowing the field to three candidates, settled on offering the position to Paul Weber who will take office July 1, 2020.
Weber replaces Dr. Jeff Jacobson who is retiring at the end of the school year.
The board went through 16 applications before settling on the final three who were introduced to the public at a forum last Thursday.
A release provided to parents Tuesday stated "We are confident Weber will be a strong leader, focused on student achievement, and will help lead a new strategic plan for our district."
Weber has over 29 years experience in education and administration. He spent 12 years as a Social Studies Teacher prior to becoming a High School Principal and Athletic Director in Elk Mound and Pardeeville for the past 16 years. Currently, Weber is the Director of Secondary Schools for the Wausau School District.
In a statement Tuesday Weber said: "I am excited to serve the students, staff, and citizens of the Dodgeville School District. While interviewing I could sense the pride the community has in their schools. Dr. Jacobson should be complimented on the fine work he has done in creating a top-notch district. My goal is to build off his accomplishments, knowing that the best is yet to come for the Dodgeville District. Based on the vision, "Start Here, Go Anywhere," my goal is a first-rate education for Dodgeville students through access and opportunity for all. I will keep the community informed as I transition into the position. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and will work hard each and every day to earn your trust and confidence."
Weber's wife, Janet, is an RN at Unity Point Meriter in Madison. They have three grown children,
A daughter, Amanda, lives and works in Nashville.
A son, Adam, is a dental student at Marquette.
A daughter, Allie, is a student at UW-Madison.
"I enjoy being physically active, as well as watching and attending college and professional sporting events," Weber said. "My wife and I like to travel... Two years ago Janet, Allie and I traveled the ring around Iceland. Janet and I also like to attend plays and musicals."
