WisDOT announces 2019 Excellence
in Construction Awards, Iowa County
receives Excellence in Grading
Iowa County is one of the counties to be recognized for its excellence in construction.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced seven Excellence in Construction Awards for 2019 during the annual Contractor-Engineer Conference held recently in Madison.
The Excellence in Grading Award went to Mashuda Contractors, Inc. of Princeton for work on the US 151 County ID Interchange project in Iowa County. According to the DOT website, the project was a safety enhancement that included construction of a new interchange, over 4.5 miles of realigned side roads and frontage roads, and a new overpass into Ridgeway.
Multiple traffic stages were used on the corridor throughout the project to help minimize delays. Mashuda crushed excavated rock on site to minimize project costs. Their expertise in using different methods to stabilize the rock excavation was also a key factor in the project's success.
"Wisconsin is fortunate to have so many talented, hard-working contractors who help produce quality infrastructure for millions of users," said Beth Cannestra, director of WisDOT's Bureau of Project Development. "This annual event is about looking back on the best of the best our contractors have produced, both to say thank you for a job well done and to encourage everyone to continue pushing for greatness in 2020."
More information and photos of the award-winning projects can be found on the WisDOT website.
