Iowa-Grant High School to display Vietnam War banner
Starting on January 23 and running until February 3, the Iowa-Grant High School will be hosting a display of banners from the Vietnam War. These banners will contain the names and photos of all individuals who were killed in the war, from the state of Wisconsin.
This display is the result of a collaboration between Wisconsin Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Television, and the Wisconsin Veteran's Museum. The project is called "Wisconsin Remembers-A Face For Every Name," and is a listing of all 1,161 Wisconsinites shown on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. This was an effort to attach a photograph to each individual killed in the conflict as a way to personalize them beyond just a listing of names. The photos were obtained from family members and friends who made the project a success.
The exhibit will be availabe for students to observe during the school day and the public will be able to view the banners on Saturday January 25 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday February 1 from 8 a.m. to noon. The hope is that these dates and times will allow people in the area an opportunity to see this memorial to our deceased veterans.
