deceased in Dane County shooting incident
|Over the weekend, Dodgeville lost one of its own in a Dane County shooting incident.|
According to reports from the City of Madison Police Department, Madison Police and Fire departments were dispatched on Saturday December 14 at 1:18 p.m. to the 1000 block of Spruce Street for a weapons violation (shots fired). Officers arrived on scene and located one victim with life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.
The Dane County Medical Examiners released Monday morning victim information. The victim in the shooting was identified as Gunnar T.G. Holum, 18, of Dodgeville. A forensic autopsy took place at the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office on Sunday, with results of the autopsy confirming that Mr. Holum's death was the result of "firearm related trauma."
In connection with this investigation, Madison Police arrested Marcus T. Hamilton, 20, for first degree intentional homicide.
Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain confirmed that this wasn't a random incident and the two definitely knew each other.
This death remains under investigation by the City of Madison Police and the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office.
According to court documents, a cash bond for Hamilton has been set for $1,000,000. While criminal complaints have not yet been filed, Hamilton is expected to return to court Monday for an initial appearance.
