Get Into the Holiday Spirit at Shake Rag Alley

Santa and Mrs. Claus return to Shake Rag Alley on Saturday, December 7, for a day of fun and festive holiday crafts and the last day of the 15th Anniversary Instructor Showcase.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a photo op appearance for two hours, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., while Santa's workshops will take place 10 a.m.-2 pm. Spend a fun family day decorating gingerbread cottages, making Christmas crafts and visiting Santa!
Tickets for the Santa Day tradition, a fun holiday event that is also a fundraiser for the nonprofit arts education organization, are available at the Lind Pavilion, 411 Commerce St.
Be sure to stop in to the Art Cafe 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday to shop the last day of the 15th Anniversary Instructor Showcase featuring arts and crafts made by more than 20 Shake Rag Alley instructors. Local and regional artists Dick Anderson, Joe Cole, Dee Hooks, Dennis McKernan, Lorraine Reynolds, Cheryl Smeja, Carole Spelic', Sharon Stauffer, Joelle White and Katie White are among those who contributed their creations to this eclectic mix of artwork including mixed media, jewelry, ceramics, fiber arts and more, which also serves as a fundraiser for Shake Rag Alley.

Driftless Poets Monthly Workshop December 14
Local and aspiring poets are invited to the monthly Driftless Poets workshop at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 in the Ellery House at Shake Rag Alley, 18 Shake Rag St. The purpose of the group, which began meeting in January, is to provide support and encouragement for serious or aspiring poets seeking honest feedback on their work. Save the Date for Shake Rag Alley's Winter Writers Reading Series
Award-winning authors from across Wisconsin take up residence at Shake Rag Alley from December to March, enjoying week-long writing residencies provided in partnership with the Council for Wisconsin Writers, Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine, and the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission through the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters. During their time in Mineral Point, authors will read from and discuss their work on select Wednesdays at the Lind Pavilion, 411 Commerce St. Save the date to attend the first reading featuring Robert Russell, Wisconsin People & Ideas Poetry Contest winner.
