Dodgeville City Council breaks down 2020 budget, passes
resolution for library referendum

The revenue budget for the city of Dodgeville is $4,302,452, taking in 14.2% more than last year which was $3,709,674. The expense budget for the city of Dodgeville is $3,850,767 with the estimated amount at the end of this year is $3,736,226.
The property tax contribution for this year is $3,242,448. The equalized tax rate per $1,000 this year is 8.88 a slight increase from last year which was $8.79.
Council members approved the 2020 budget and set the 2019 levy which would be payable in 2020.
After the passing of the 2020 budget, Dodgeville City Council continued the library referendum discussion. At last council meeting, it was determined that in order for a library referendum to occur in February wording for the referendum needed to be passed 70 days prior. The February primary is Tuesday February 18.
Council members approved by a 5-2 vote (Alderpersons Mike Borne and Dan Meuer opposing because of favoring the referendum during the April primary) "a resolution (resolution 999) and order providing for an advisory referendum on the question of construction of a new public library at a cost not to exceed $7,000,000 in the City of Dodgeville, Iowa County, WI."

Council members also approved to conduct a simplified water rate case and also approved a DNR report for water and waste water.
