Track coach hire puts program in I-G district offerings
The final piece of starting track and field at Iowa-Grant was put in last Monday when the school board hired Aaron Zimmer as head coach.
Zimmer, a teacher in the district, previously coached baseball and helped with basketball.
In other coaching assignments the board approved Logan Mills, Mike Kelley and Logan Bollant as volunteer coaches for the Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestling program.
In other athletic news the board acknowledged that the boys cross country team will run at the WIAA state meet this weekend after finishing second at the Sectionals. Also, the I-G volleyball team won the Regional championship and will play Seneca tonight at home in the Sectionals semi-finals.
The board also noted the school play will be November 8-9.
Collision Specialist, an auto body shop in Livingston operated by Greg Slack, presented the district with a check for $1081. Funds were derived from a program the business runs where the district receives a portion of their funds.
Two trips were approved, one for the FFA National Convention and one for the Bi-State wrestling tournament in LaCrosse.
In other business the board voted to borrow funds short term prior to the December 2 aid payment being available in the amount of $700,000.
