Fingerson, Eileen Fern

Eileen Fern Fingerson, age 90, passed away on Saturday morning October 26, 2024, at Crestridge Memory Care in Dodgeville, WI with her family by her side. She was born on January 22, 1934, on the family farm in Montfort, the daughter of Milton and Fern (Everson) Leix. Eileen was united in marriage to Roger Fingerson on June 27, 1953, at the Montfort United Methodist Church.

Eileen graduated from Cobb High School in 1951. She then received her associate’s degree in paralegal studies from Madison School of Business. Roger and Eileen began Fingerson Service Station in Cobb in 1956, which was later passed to their son Mark. Eileen loved being able to be home raising her family, while helping Roger with the bookwork for the business. In 1969, Eileen started working for the United States Postal Service, and eventually, in 1972, became the Postmaster for the village of Cobb for 24 years until retiring in 1996. Eileen loved to sing and play the piano, especially with her two sisters. The “Cobb Girls” (Sheila Nelson, Lois Jean Clifton, and Eileen) shared their love of music by singing for area nursing homes’ residents and staff. Family was very important to Eileen, and she could find any reason to have a family get together. When she wasn’t with family, she enjoyed being outside at the family farm, playing softball, and bowling in various leagues. Eileen and Roger also enjoyed their many traveling adventures.

Eileen was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, participated in Bible studies with the women of the church, and acted as a church treasurer at one point. She was also active in the Cobb Lioness, Cobb Legion Auxillary and the Cobb Firemens Auxiliary. Eileen will be remembered for her caring ways and being the neighborhood “MOM” to everyone.  Eileen’s family greatly appreciates all the care she received by the staff at Crestridge Memory Care and Upland Hills Hospice.

Eileen is survived by her three children: Jan Thomas (Renee Todd) of Stoughton, Mark (Colleen) Fingerson of Cobb, and Pam (Chris) Kreul of Fennimore; four grandchildren: Lisa Kreul, Jamie (Matt) Iserloth, Paige (Mat) Vieth, and Colin Fingerson; and five great grandchildren: Libby, Khloe, and Halle Iserloth, and twins Bennett and Beau Vieth, sister Lois (Laverne) Clifton of Montfort,  and brother-in-law Donnie Ritchie of Cobb along with several special nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Roger Fingerson on June 27, 2013, parents Milton and Fern Leix, sister Bonnie Ritchie, father and mother-in-law Lawrence and Pearl Fingerson, brother and sister-in-law Laverne and Betty Fingerson, and dear friends Kenneth and Marian Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November 8, 2024, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Edmund, WI with burial to follow in the East Bethlehem Cemetery in Eden Township, Iowa County, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Loving Memory of Eileen Fingerson and will be distributed to various organizations that were dear to Eileen and Roger. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family and online condolences may be made at www.larsonfuneralhomes.com
