Mazomanie man pleas no contest, gets prison time for drug charges
Defendant Benjamin J. Peterson, 30, of Mazomanie, and District Attorney Zachary Leigh offered a joint recommendation to Judge Matthew Allen in Iowa County Court on Monday, October 14th and the judge agreed with their joint recommendation for Peterson to serve 80 months in the Wisconsin State Prison System for Possession with Intent to sell Methamphetamine of more than 50 grams, and as a Party to a Crime.
Two counts of Felony Bail Jumping were dismissed but read in. Peterson represented himself without an attorney. Peterson was stopped on September 23rd by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department on Highway 14 in the Township of Arena. The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of over 92 grams of Meth, a large amount of cash, and a vehicle....
