Watson, Evelyn R.

Evelyn R. Watson, age 87, of Dodgeville passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Upland Hills Hospital with her family by her side.

Evelyn was born on June 10, 1936 to Marian and Joseph Bauer. She was the fifth of nine girls. Evelyn has told many fond stories about growing up on the farm in Plain. Evelyn graduated from St Lukes High School in 1954. After graduation she worked in Madison at the state capital for several years. She married Gerald Watson on February 27, 1960 and they welcomed 4 children; Jane Watson, Barbara Watson, David (Linda) Watson, and Amy (Bill) Anderson. Evelyn was a great mother and able to stay at home with her kids when they were young, providing a loving home to all of us; she also spent many years teaching catechism to children at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Ridgeway.  After her kids got older she worked various jobs in accounting/bookkeeping and then later wallpapering and painting. Evelyn had several hobbies; gardening(especially hostas), reading, playing bridge, crocheting, antiquing and shopping. She was a great cook and baker and put on quite the spread for holidays.

Evelyn “Mima” was a wonderful grandma and great-grandma to: Bryan, Jess, Jaime, Casey, Tanner, Kaleb, Ja’ton, Erica, and Antonio. She babysat for all of her grandchildren and spoiled them more than her own kids. She was always there to give unwavering love and support.

Evelyn was a kind and loving person accepting everyone without judgment. She often commented on how grateful she was for the life she lived. She will be deeply missed.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, all 8 of her sisters, sister in law, several  brother in laws, son in law, and nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank our father, Gerry, for always providing and caring for mom. The family would also like to thank the staff at Upland Hills Health for their care of Evelyn.

And a special thanks to Joan Finley for her compassionate care.

Per Evelyn's request a private memorial will be held.
