This week is National Public School week

Dear Editor,

Wisconsin's public schools are the backbone of our communities - providing education, support, and a sense of belonging to our children. As a community, it is our responsibility to ensure that our public schools receive the support and resources they need to thrive.

Despite facing many challenges, including budget cuts and shifting educational policies, our public schools continue to provide a high-quality education to all students. They play a crucial role in preparing our children for the future, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an increasingly complex world.

Public schools are also essential for fostering a sense of community and social cohesion. They bring together students, parents, teachers, and community members from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging and shared purpose. They are not just places of learning; they are also centers of community life - hosting events, activities, and programs that bring people together and strengthen our community.

It is crucial that we support our public schools in every way we can. This means advocating for adequate funding, supporting policies that prioritize the needs of students and educators, and being actively involved in our local schools. By working together to support our public schools, we can ensure that they continue to be a source of pride and strength for our community for generations to come.

This week is National Public School week, and so I want to thank all of the parents, community members, businesses, teachers, and administrators for their dedication to our kids and our schools.  Let's continue to support our public schools!

Sincerely,

Jessica Thuli-Wieczorek
