Housing shortage hits home

High demand, low inventory and increasing prices are the state of the housing market right now. 

“I think there’s definitely a shortage, especially for middle to low- income people,” said Mel Loy, of 1st Advantage Real Estate in Dodgeville. 

People who make $16 an hour cannot afford rents of $1,200 to $1,400 a month, she said. 

“People just can’t do that. They don’t make that kind of money,” Loy said. “People who work in Dodgeville and normally would live in Dodgeville are driving from Montfort and Boscobel because it’s cheaper to live in places like that.” ...
