Fire and ice combine for Ice Lantern Festival Feb. 3

Activities added to last year’s Ice Lantern Festival return Feb. 3, bringing costume contests, concessions, cakewalks and music to downtown Mineral Point. 

This year’s festival centers on the Masonic Lodge and Library Park. 

Light comes not just from the lanterns on High, Commerce, and Fountain streets but also fire pits for warmth and ambiance. 

New this year, a free family friendly movie, courtesy of the Mineral Point Library, adds to the festivities at 2 p.m. at the Opera House. 

Last year about 60 ice lanterns were sponsored and made by Mineral Point High School art students. Others made by businesses, individuals or groups lined the streets.... (See the rest of this story in the January 25, 2025 Chronicle issue)
