Thomas, Carolyn Janet Nagel



Carolyn Janet Nagel Thomas, age 91 of Cobb, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Carolyn was born on July 7, 1933, at St. Joseph's hospital in Dodgeville to Melvin & Amy Nagel. She graduated from Cobb High School and worked at Cobb State Bank and Farmer Savings Bank for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cobb where she held many offices.

Carolyn was very involved in her community. She was a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for many years, working the booth at the Cobb Corn Boil until she was well into her 80's. She was a passionate gardener and loved watching the birds. She also enjoyed golfing, quilting, traveling with friends and family as well as attending the local Red Hat gatherings. An avid sports fan, her favorite teams were of course, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Together she and Albert raised four children, Eric (Kelly) of Cobb, Denise (Wayne) Tillotson of Belmont, Rita (Mark) Weigel of Belmont and Janette (Hal Carter) Spieldenner of Gansevoort, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws James and Elsie Thomas, husband Albert, brothers: Richard (Delores) and Norman, sisters: Mildred (Bill) Bowan and Elaine Nagel, and sister-in-law Angela Thomas.

Carolyn is survived by her children, grandchildren: Matt (Lexi) and Miles Weigel, Shane (Brooke Halback) and Zach (Melissa) Thomas, Erin (Rich) Heim, Erika (Ronnie) McMurry, and Kyle Tillotson, great-grandchildren: Kohen, Zade, Witten, Lacy and Camden; brother Everett (Pat), sister Evelyn (David) Wagner, sister-in-law June Nagel, and brother-in-law Everett Thomas, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the community of Cobb for all the help given to Carolyn throughout the years. A special thank you goes to Upland Hills Hospice and Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support of Carolyn and her family these past few months. The family would also like to give a very special thank you to Carolyn's neighbors, John & Carol Wienkes as well as Rodney and Linda Gard for their incredible kindness and friendship shown to Carolyn over the years.

 A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, 101 N. Wilson St, Cobb. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In honor of Carolyn, please wear your favorite sports team attire.
