Laufenberg, Michael “Slick” J.



Michael “Slick” J. Laufenberg, age 76, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home in rural Montfort. He was born June 30, 1947; the son of John and Gwen (Beran) Laufenberg. Mike graduated from Muscoda High School in 1966. In 1973, he graduated Southwest Tech’s auto mechanics program. On September 22, 1973, Mike married Helen Curtis, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  Mike worked at Marathon Cheese and later spent many years at Badgerland Agri-Systems before retiring in 2009.

Mike is survived by his wife Helen; children, Aaron (Annamarie) Laufenberg and Trina (Justin) Pettit; and grandchildren, Ava Laufenberg and Braylin Pettit. He is further survived by his siblings: Dennis (Linda) Laufenberg, Pat (Monty) Slapak, Donna (Dave) Roeker, and Susan Welsh; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom and Randy; and brother in-law, Larry Welsh. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2024, at the Montfort United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, at church.
