Meyer, Thomas “Tanker” Gerald



Thomas “Tanker” Gerald Meyer, age 70, of Blue Mounds, passed away unexpectedly at home from natural causes on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Tom was born in Dodgeville, WI on November 13, 1953; a son of the late Arthur and Martha Meyer. He graduated from Barneveld High School in 1971 and then attend SWTC for Tractor Mechanics. After college, he went to work for the Farmers International dealership and then to General Beverage and back to the home farm to help out until we went to work for the USPS as a rural carrier, retiring from there after 25 years, in 2018.

Tom’s interest and hobbies in life were pulling tug o’ war, hunting, collecting guns, tractors and pulling tractors, cutting wood, watching WI sports on TV and finding any place that had a card game going on. His number one passion in life were his grandchildren and attending all of their events, even traveling to Iowa on the weekends to watch baseball tournaments.

Tom is survived by his wife, Lynne, of 43 years; his children Tom (Lynsey) Meyer, Katie (Chad) Baumgartner. He will be loved and missed by his grandchildren Kaitlynn Baumgartner, Colten Meyer and Gaege Meyer. He is further survived by his siblings, Helen Fink, William Meyer, Mary Weatherford, Dave (Tory) Meyer, Tim (Renee) Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred Meyer, his brother-in-law Corny Fink, his sister-in-law Rita Meyer and an infant brother.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
