Along The Ad Routes

by Mike Reilly

There was a lot going on last weekend all over the area. I made it to the Jonesdale Field Days on Saturday - baseball games on Sunday, so I couldn’t go then. I got a chance to see a lot of area school trap shooters in action, some were very good! I also got to the always impressive “Smoke in the Valley” at Prem’s Market in Spring Green. That area was packed with people sampling a lot of great BBQ from all over the area, some from a pretty good distance. I ran into several people I knew and also cousins Jack, Annette and Andrew Reilly who I get to see only now and then. There was a car show in Mineral Point and the Hollandale Homecoming on Saturday too!

Saturday morning breakfast took Terry, Tom, Dewey and me to Stroz’s Inn that is in Hollandale. Bob had a wedding in Minneapolis and Dave may’ve gone back wind surfing - we didn’t hear from him. Terry, Tom and myself all had “huge” omelettes. I tried jalapeno peppers in mine for the first time to spice it up some. I think it spiced it up a little too much! Tom said his was fine with them in it! Dewey had the usual eggs, bacon and English muffin. It all was very good and we had great service from Ashley and Amber. We saw Jen (owner) for a second. I’m guessing she was in the kitchen. Dave Whitford stopped by to visit for a while. He told us all about what was going on that day for homecoming events. With Tom, his brothers and son heading to the Mineral Point Car Show, we had to cut our visiting time short so he could get there and lined up.

This Sunday Dodgeville (who always is at Centennial Park) plays Mineral Point at 10 and noon! There is a concession stand at both fields too!

I’m going back to yesterday (Wednesday, September 13) for my favorite day at this time. It’s International Chocolate Day. “It is a time to celebrate the authentic, fun treats that chocolate and candy companies have been producing for more than 100 years.” Unless you’re allergic, everybody loves chocolate. I know I do!
