With profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Don Johnson, age 66, on May 5, 2023. Don was know by many as "Julio." He was a kind man that will be immensely missed.

Don was born on May 14, 1956. He attended Dodgeville schools where he later found his passion in trucking. Don was a life long trucker which lead him to travel to many different places and states. In 1976, he participated on the Bicentennial Wagon Train . He was also a big part of building the Denver, Colorado airport runway.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Don, such as hunting and fishing. Don loved sharing his passion of cattle with many people and also to his grandchildren. Don belonged to the Cattleman Association where he advocated , educated and gave a voice to the states beef producers. Don enjoyed a good steak with potatoes and if you offered him Reese's Pieces, he wouldn't turn it down.

Don is survived by his parents: Sandra Jane (Stauffacher) and David Roy Johnson. Siblings: Bill Johnson, Nacey (Johnson ) and Jim Metcalf, Kathy (Johnson) and Erik Miller and his dear friend, Ann Berendt. Don leaves behind his children, Aaron Wild and his wife Michelle Wild. Garrett Hrubes, Kristine Hrubes, Rita (Hrubes) and her husband, Nathan Heilmann. Grandchildren: Nolan, Mallory and Eben Heilmann. Keegan Hrubes. Destan and Ryver Wild. As well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Cowboy Country Church in Mineral Point. Pastor Roger Johnson will officiate.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 until 9:50 AM all at the Cowboy Country Church. Burial will be in the Union Grave Cemetery in Darlington. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated. A special thank you to Steve Fink and family for the outpouring support.

There will be a celebration of Don following the lunch at Tony's Tap on Friday.
