Upland Hills Health celebrates 50 years of caring

Upland Hills Health will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024. Plans are already in place to mark this milestone with events throughout the coming year.

“Our 50th year is the perfect time to show our appreciation to members of our communities for trusting us with their health and wellness and to honor the commitment our employees have made to provide compassionate and expert care to every patient, every time,” said Upland Hills Health President and CEO Lisa Schnedler. “Upland Hills Health has expanded over the years and the number of employees and providers has grown, but we remain at our core a community hospital dedicated to putting the needs of our patients first.”

The merger of General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1974 created Memorial Hospital of Iowa County. After the merger, General Hospital became a nursing home and the building that was St. Joseph’s Hospital was designated for inpatient and outpatient care. Combining the two hospitals set the stage for improvements in technology, staff growth and new services.

Today, Upland Hills Health is a strong, independent health system with more than 35 providers, 30 specialists and over 600 employees working in the hospital, across seven clinics in Iowa and Dane counties and in essential services including hospice, medical equipment, therapy and home care.

The health system will host a series of public events over the coming year in the communities it serves to celebrate 50 years of caring. Join the fun! Events will be publicized on the Upland Hills Health website at www.uplandhillshealth.org/about-us/50th-anniversary/, on its Facebook page and in area publications.
