Thank you Mayor Basting

For the past six years the city of Mineral Point has had Jason Basting as its Mayor.  During that time the city has seen business growth and many upgrades to its streets and infrastructure.  Mayor Basting has been a great leader of a great community.

But all good things must come to an end so “they” say and Mayor Basting informed the Mineral Point City Council Tuesday he has filed his certification of non-candidacy which means he will no longer be Mayor when his current term ends.  Mineral Point voters will be picking a new Mayor in the spring election.

From the newspaper standpoint it has been an easy task to work with Mayor Basting to report on the good things that have been accomplished during his administration.  He has been a good leader and a good voice for the community.

The challenge now is to choose a candidate who will step in an continue helping the community be better.

Thank you for your service and good luck in the future Jason.  You have done well.
