Along The Ad Routes

Saturday morning breakfast took us not too far away - Hollandale. We went to Stroz Inn, that friends Jen and Kevin run. We didn't get to see either one of them though. They were probably back in the kitchen or resting following a long Friday night and they were busy! Bob, Terry and I each had an omelette that was huge and very good. I'm the big eater and added hash browns! Dewey had a big breakfast biscuit that he really liked! There was just the four of us because Dave Stone is on vacation, golfing down south with a bunch of local and area buddies!

Two people we see there quite often from the area are Mike Shea and Stan McGraw, Dodgeville-Agri Service connections. We stick around for a while, but they were still there when we left - maybe waiting for lunch!

The Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce is planning for "Home For the Holidays", mainly Small Business Saturday which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 26). Anyone wanting to help with the event or has something planned for then until Christmas should contact the chamber.

The Home For the Holidays parade is in need of entrants. It will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26 through Dodgeville's main street. There will be parade marshals, a color guard and of course santa! There will be more on events that day soon.

There will also be a free (canned good entry) movie at the Dodge Theatre that Saturday. Santa will be at Cobblestone for photos from Noon-2:00 p.m. There is also a cookie walk to benefit the Dodger Food locker starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church. There are two vendor sales and more!

We had a light crowd for the "First Friday DHS Class Luncheon" at the Red Room last Friday. It was a beautiful day and maybe people had outside work to do! There were about a dozen people in the bar area with a "mini" reunion of graduates though. I stopped and talked with them for a few minutes after eating in the dining area.

Just so you don't think time flys. It's only about six weeks until Christmas. That also means that in about seven weeks, it will be a NEW YEAR!

I was at Cathryn's Market the other day and this really big guy was talking with Cliff. He was a Cintas employee. He showed me this really big ring. It was a Rose Bowl ring that he had gotten while playing for the UW Badgers Football Team!

Today - Thursday, November 10 is National Cupcake Day. Now that's a day I could celebrate! It's also "Forget-Me-Not Day". I'm not sure if that's the flower (Scorpion grasses) that is celebrated or that many people tell me they will never forget me?!!! And I don't know if they mean that in a good way or not!

Actually it's the flower and here's what it stands for: "National Forget-Me-Not Day on November 10th reminds Americans of the sacrifices returning soldiers have made of body, blood, and limb."

Don't forget to salute a veteran tomorrow - Friday, November 11!
