Along The Ad Routes

We're on the final days of February, the shortest month of the year! I think I've learned the true meaning of "wind" this month! Temperatures have gone from below zero to 50 degrees too!

Saturday morning breakfast took Bob, Terry, Dewey, Dave and me to Grandma Mary's in Arena. It was a twofold stop for me as I was also going to the Arena Fisheree that the Wildlife Forever ATV Club holds annually at Traders Bar & Grill that has an Arena address, but is actually closer to Spring Green. I enjoyed the kids fishing (FREE) contest.

I think I'm losing it! Bob and Terry rode with me to breakfast Saturday and thus had to go to the fisheree with me.While I was out on the ice taking photos, they were inside looking over the silent auction items, talking with people and drinking a soda. I came inside and immediately started talking with people, including Kenny Amble, Arena VFW. Bob and I got in a squares contest to win a couple of items then we headed out. We were getting into my vehicle and all of a sudden I was horrified. I reached for my cell phone and it wasn't in its holster. I had horrors of losing it when I was kneeling down on the ice to take photos of the kids. Bob looked at me and said, "What is that in your left hand?" I sheepishly looked and saw my phone in it! That immediately reminded me of the commercial I see on TV of the guy and his wife when he asks her if she'd seen his glasses. She answers "they're her somewhere" as she looks at them perched above his forehead!

One other little thing about our trip to Grandma Mary's - I missed the turn to go into the parking lot as I was thinking about something else so we entered the restaurant parking lot coming from Black Earth. Dewey said he thought he saw my vehicle coming from the wrong way when we got inside. He was right!

We had another Grilled Cheese Championship committee meeting the other day. We are still in need of a food truck and entrants in all categories, especially the professional one. We are currently signing up volunteers to help set up, work that day and tear down. We can always use donations for the VIP bags and money to support it! Things are going pretty well. Next year we're hoping to have a big event as it's the 10th year for it! Check out the above poster promoting it!

Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe from the Mid-West Farm Report (daily) and podcast fame, will be the Master of Ceremonies this year at the Grilled Cheese Championships. She is fantastic!

Sunday was the annual Dodgeville Lions Club's FREE Community Breakfast. We didn't have as good a turnout as hoped, but it was a lot of fun seeing people we hadn't seen in a while and feeding about 150 people! It was a beautiful day and there was a fundraiser breakfast going on in Highland at the same time for the two fallen firemen from Mineral Point that got a great attendance.

I ate twice at the Lions breakfast. The first time was breakfast before everything started at 8:00 a.m. The second was about 11:30 that I considered "Brunch"!
